Curse You Weight Watchers! CURSE YOU!!!

Today I decided to sign up for Weight Watchers online. I did this because I am a list and tally person. I love to write things down-it is a mental dysfunction of mine. I will wake in the morning and make the most wonderful "to-do" list and set out to accomplish everything I have on the list... even if it is 50 pages long and has things like "paint the entire house" and "re-sod the front yard." I do everything in my power to cross off the tasks on my list. It is a rush when I can look at a list and see more check marks than to-do's on it.

That being said, I figured putting a point system on all of my food and then tallying what I have eaten through the day would be fun. I foolishly thought it would be a whimsical thing that would give me pleasure.

Well, here it is only 4:30 p.m. and I only have 6 points left for my day! I have not even eaten dinner yet... but I only have 6 points left. I have made the most wonderful spaghetti and meatballs and it smells delicious... but I only have 6 points left and spaghetti and meatballs are 16 points.

Who thought of giving spaghetti and meatballs 16 points? That is unfair!

Sure, if I hadn't eaten 1/4 cup of chocolate disks that I have in the cabinet for my chocolate fountain this afternoon I would have been able to eat the yummy spaghetti and meatballs, but once I popped one of those little chocolate disks in my mouth, I could not stop myself. Stupid chocolate.

Now I don't know what I can eat for dinner. I suppose I can eat some hard-boiled eggs while I watch my family eat the spaghetti and meatballs... or I can just eat the damn spaghetti and use some of my points for tomorrow. Yeah, that is what I will do. I am sure I will have more will power tomorrow.

I wonder how many points a loaf of garlic bread is...

You know what I heard? I heard if you say a rosary standing on your head your dinner won't have any calories AT ALL...nodding knowledgeably.

Don't forget you have 35 points a week to do whatever you want with - whenever you want....but once their gone - their gone. So - have the spaghetti (skip the meatballs) and a salad!

According to my WW listing two meatballs are worth 10 points. Knock those off like Yvonne said and you're good to go. It's not sexy, but...you understand the trade-offs. :)

I think you should try Hope's suggestion. Then, I think you should post a picture for our viewing pleasure. We could burn enough calories laughing so the WE could eat spaghetti and meatballs. Yum!

Can you just eat a small dinner and run a marathon later?????

I've never done WW, but I have heard really great success stories. GOOD LUCK!

I'm avoiding ironing a shirt so that I can go to bed. Makes total sense, right?

I've re-posted some recipes that I use regularly when we're living in a WW house.

Eat all your points. Use your extra points each week. Exercise earns you more points each day. Eat chocolate for medicinal purposes.

Good luck with it. Share some of your recipes with us, willya?

Well, you could try their CORE program, but that wouldn't really give you much of a list and tally high - so I have a GREAT idea. Once you are tired of WW (or you owe them more money, whichever comes first) just start COUNTING CALORIES and TALLYING exercise minutes. Go to www.fitday.com and sign up for their free food and activitiy log. You get to look up each and every thing you eat, and there's places to tally every morsel of food you put in your mouth, and a place to write down every minute of exercise you get - including things like cleaning the toilet and washing dishes! It's a tallying listmaker's dream. It has also helped me lose 40 pounds since August. I am now addicted to writing everything down. Try it. You may like it.

I don't know the points on this one but it has worked for me in the past...when I make spagetti for the family they get the pasta and I put mine over french style green beans.
It's delicious and you can cut points.
Darn, I wish I hadn't set out pork cutlets for dinner tonight. Now I want spagetti!
Love,
Aunt Barbara

Did you log any exercise points for the day? You could earn a few more extra points if you logged some exercise - and it doesn't have to be running a marathon. The WW Online website has things like "walking," and I like taking credit for things I'm already doing like "boxing" (on the Wii) or just "housework, vacuuming."

I've been very pleased with WW Online, although the first week is a little tough getting into the routine and not overshooting your points for the day (and your flex points for the week).

I've "restarted" WW several times, and even if I go over my points for the week, I've found that just simply WRITING IT DOWN and trying my best, I still lost weight- even if I was over by many points. But mind you, that only works the first week, MAYBE into the second week. So it is at least a little forgiving. I always figured that because I was journaling my food/points, I was actually eating alot LESS than I normally was, so even if my points went over for the day, it was still less than I was eating before. GOOD LUCK!
