I have been doing very well with this sacrifice and I have been very happy with my self control.... that is until I had a bowl of Chocolate Chex cereal. Oh. My. Goodness.
But now I have met a moral dilemma. Since this cereal is sooo very yummy, and it does taste like chocolate, I feel like I am seriously cheating God out of my sacrifice. Sure, it would have been ok if I only had ONE bowl of this cereal, but after I tasted it I had to have a second bowl, and then a handful or two every time I walked past the pantry.
Part of me is saying "Aw, it is just cereal... not dessert!" and the other part of me is saying "June Cleaver! You know very well that you are enjoying this cereal too much and we all know that you are not supposed to enjoy anything during Lent for the LOVE OF GOD Woman! Walk away from the cereal!"
Word on the streets is that my Girl Scout cookies will be delivered during Lent as well. I wonder if those low-carb, low fat, no sugar ones count as an actual cookie. Yep, it is going to be a long Lent.

If Lent is about sacrifice...why not give up guilt for lent and eat the cerial???
I'm having a hard time with my sacrifice as well. But I guess that's what it's all about!
Hange in there!
I know you know this, but: if you gave up all sweets, Chocolate Chex definitely falls into that category. (So do Lucky Charms, Cocoa and Fruity Pebbles, Trix, Frosted Mini-Wheats, and pretty much any other cereal that tastes good.)
Last year I gave up sweets, and then forgot on St. Patrick's Day when I poured maple syrup onto my pancakes. D'OH!!!
Keep fighting the good fight!
I ordered my wife extra Samoas this year. Last year we followed a mini-van that had a Girl Scout sign on it until they got to their house and bought cookies from them in their driveway. I thought they might be spooked, but they said it had happened before.
By the way, last year I gave up sweets. I walked into work on Ash Wednesday, having already been up for three hours and fasting, and saw a pile of Girl Scout cookie boxes on my desk. ...I whimpered...
Jud: Good man! Samoas are the BEST!
Torturous - just plain torturous
I am not sure if I took the easy way out this LENT, but in leiu of my husband going through RCIA, i have made the commitment to PRAY more. I didn't GIVE up anything this year. I am trying to add ...
The chocolate withdrawal symptoms are kicking in here as well. And as for the cereal...you know what you have to do!
Ooooooh, I've so been there and the withdrawal symptoms bite!
